Kate Goertzen (she/her), Principal

Kate is interested in the intersections of art and design with belonging and community building. She founded Open Seat Studio to co-create physical spaces where folks with bold dreams can grow, challenge one another, and connect with or serve their community more effectively. 

In her other work partnering to grow nonprofits and collectives, Kate has sought partnership and impact as an advocate, communicator, and strategist interested in shifting power and resources to where they can have the highest impact—in the hands of folks directly impacted.

Kate lives in Northeast DC with her family, their sweet and very loud hound dog, a disorganized sewing table, a busy kitchen, and walking distance to close friends. She retreats to Lost River, WV regularly to recenter, access additional breathing room, and discuss forest and farm animals with her toddler.
